About The Author 

Peter Vaira
Peter F. Vaira is special counsel to the firm of Greenblatt, Pierce, Engle, Funt & Flores in Philadelphia, and concentrates his practice on white collar criminal defense, ADR, and acting as special hearing master in complex civil litigation. He is a member of the Pennsylvania, District of Columbia, and Illinois bars.

Mr. Vaira is a former United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and former Attorney in Charge of the U.S. Department of Justice Chicago and Philadelphia Strike Forces on Organized Crime. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a member of the American Law Institute. He is a Chartered Arbitrator of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He was recently appointed as the Executive Director of the Mayor's Independent Commission to investigate the collapse of a building in Philadelphia which killed six persons. Mr. Vaira regularly writes for legal periodicals and national newspapers and appears as a panelist at legal seminars. He acts a special hearing master for the Commerce Court of Philadelphia.
